Horrifying & Terrifying Death Bed Scenes Of Atheists, Apostates, Hypocrites & Reprobates 1/3 (Free MP3)
"Too horrible to imagine! The most chilling narration that I have ever heard. Words fail me in how much I would encourage anyone who is delaying repentance to listen to this sermon! Attend to your soul while there is time!" - Comment on SermonAudio. Actual testimonies of persons dying without hope, without a saving faith in Christ. Includes the testimonies of Louis XV and Lord Chesterfield. Written in 1852; read by Tom Sullivan.
Horrifying & Terrifying Death Bed Scenes Of Atheists, Apostates, Hypocrites & Reprobates 2/3 (Free MP3)
Most terrifying! Next month marks my 22nd anniversary narrating, and yet few things I have read are as frightening as this portion of a book. The testimonies are puzzling as well as frightening because in most cases those who have been given up of the Spirit to final obduracy are hardened and not frightened. See A. H. Strong's Systematic Theology page 651. But there are those cases that appear to be like Judas, who knew they were condemned before the entered into eternity. Whether they are correct in assessing their own case is not sure. The least that can be said is that it is an awful thing to depart from God. "He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy", Proverbs 29:1. Real testimonies of those who were like the 'man in the iron cage' from John Bunyan's Pilgrim's Progress. Fearful beyond description and if this narration contained a warning label, it would state - do not listen to this if you are a weak believer of what Spurgeon calls a "little faith." - Thomas Sullivan.

The Horrifying Death-Bed of a Free-Thinker (Apostate Reprobate), Exemplified in the Last Hours of Hon. Francis Newport (Free MP3)
This was originally circulated as a Bible tract by the American Tract Society. First it was printed as a contrast to the death bed of the believer - Samuel Finley (see below) - published in 1806. Then again it was published as a separate tract, 1820, and other numerous editions. Francis Newport died in 1642 an apostate. The story is as solemn as that of the infamous death of Francis Spira (see below), who apostatized when arraigned at the inquisition of Venice, 1548.
Facts have demonstrated that men are always more deeply impressed by example than by precept. The biography both of religious and irreligious men illustrates the close and necessary connection which subsists between virtue and happiness and between sin and misery. The death beds of those who live in the contempt of religion and in the practice of sin generally exhibit a scene of wretchedness and despair while the Christian whose heart has been brought into unison with the divine law and whose faith apprehends an atoning sacrifice with an eye of serene luster views the messenger of death and with a hope full of immortality bids the world adieu. The following narrations exhibit a lively picture of the two characters. May the perusal deeply impress on the heart of every reader the deep rooted depravity of the human heart the necessity of its renovation and the importance of flying for refuge to lay hold on the hope exhibited in the gospel. May apostates be awakened to discover the fatal termination of their career and the Christian be encouraged and animated in every trial with the prospect of Christ's presence in the hour of death and an eternity for the exercise of pure worship and uninterrupted praise.

Evil and Danger of Apostasy in the History of Francis Spira (1/2), With A Preface By John Calvin
The fate of Spira. Speculation about the end of Spira vastly differs. Is John Calvin right when he wrote, "In order that God may remove brutish insensibility, he sometimes exhibits such prodigies to compel us to feel, even while we continue to sleep." Or was William Perkins (1558-1602) correct who wrote, "Oft it will fall out that the conscience of God's child shall be so exceedingly tormented in temptation, that he shall cry out, he is forsaken of God, and shall be damned; when as indeed he still remains the dear child of God." The narrative of Spire is quoted in Bunyan's Grace Abounding. Man knows the beginning of sin, but who bounds the issues thereof. Is there another explanation, to deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus (1 Cor.5:5).This extended history may assist you to come to your own conclusion - Thomas Sullivan (the narrator)
