"Halyburton's reputation rests chiefly on his Memoirs (1714, often reprinted) which, like all his works, was published posthumously. Largely taken from his private papers, not intended for publication, the Memoirs is a spiritual autobiography, detailing his thoughts and struggles. It had wide influence throughout Scotland, England... and America" (David Lachman, in Cameron, ed., Dictionary of Scottish Church History and Theology, p. 388).
This edition carries a recommendation by Samuel Miller and Charles Hodge in which they call it "one of the best specimens of religious biography extant" and commend it as "worthy of a place in every family."
The preface to this edition is written by Archibald Alexander.
